name of the technique?

Postby 4phyt on Mon Sep 17, 2007 10:54 pm

Just watched the fine video coverage - on the Livesports website - of the championship finals of the 2007 junior women's nationals which took place a number of weeks ago in Fargo.

A question about the name of one of the techniques applied to her opponent by Helen Maroulis in winning the 109 pound championship....Helen had the opposing wrestler belly down on the mat and then took control of one of her legs, bent it at the knee and used it as kind of a lever to flip her opponent over a couple of times.

From that description (admittedly not well presented) is it possible to apply the correct name to the technique?

While that leg technique is apparently within the rules of freestyle wrestling, it probably isn't allowed in folkstyle - at least haven't seen it in use.

Helen certainly looked like an aggressive and skillful wrestler - capable of winning all of her matches in that tournament by pin.
